David Kang | Executive Director

David has over 20 years of experience as a media director, producer and creative consultant who has worked in Minneapolis/St. Paul, New York, and Seoul. He is currently the executive director of The DIAL Group.

Formerly, David was the Director of Administration at Asian Media Access – a non-profit organization using media arts as a tool for social change. Throughout his career, he has consistently advocated for the increased visibility of minorities, especially Asians, in media. David is currently a member of the Minneapolis Arts Commission, Northside Arts Leadership Group, Asian Economic Development Association, as well as several other professional groups

​Kaj Tug (Emily) Lee | Apprentice & Intern

Kaj Tug (Emily) is currently a high school senior at Park Center Senior High School, as well as a youth advocate. Growing up Kaj Tug (Emily) felt stuck in between her Hmong and American identity, but found writing as an outlet of expression that taught her to except and understand her identity and others.

Kaj Tug (Emily) has published three books: My Dear Teacher, My Cultural Dish, and From Mountains to 10,000 Lakes. Kaj Tug (Emily) works to use her writing and voice to advocate for communities, focusing creating an inclusive environment that does not force individuals to choose between identities but build on individualism.

Tou SaiKo Lee | Artist-Mentor

Tou SaiKo Lee is a poet, spoken word artist, mentor, storyteller and community organizer from St. Paul, Minnesota. He has facilitated songwriting/performance poetry workshops and residencies for students at schools and community centers in the U.S. and in Thailand for 15 years.
 
Tou received a Jerome Foundation Travel Study Grant in 2008 and an Intermedia Arts VERVE Spoken Word grant in 2009. He became a Bush Foundation Fellow in 2016, and is now developing an international project called Street Stops and Mountain Tops that will connect dance and music teaching artists from the U.S. to collaborate with children in orphanages and villages of Southeast Asia.

Prince-Jamal Mack, Sr. | Artist-Instructor

Prince-Jamal (PJ) has been involved in media production for over a decade, and has had experience instructing and assisting instructors in and outside of a classroom environment. Currently a customer Trainer at the Rosedale Apple Store, PJ is tasked with making on the fly adjustments to adapt his teaching style and knowledge to fit the abilities of those that attend his workshops. Ranging from Elementary and middle school students to the elderly, he is well equipped to handle any learning type and make it engaging and dynamic.
 
With 6+ years of one on one tutoring experience from his military days as well as his entire college career PJ has both the interpersonal skills to assess the needs and interest of those he instructs and Taylor his approach in a way that allows him to effectively reach as many students as possible.

Kang Vang | Creative Director

Kang is a filmmaker who has worked in the media arts field for over 10 years as an artist, teacher, and community leader, focusing on issues that affect communities of color. He has completed five feature length films, with themes of domestic abuse, gang violence, identity and cross-generational family problems, as others. Kang was formerly the Director of Programming for Asian Media Access, where he developed and implemented media education curricula for schools, taught at-risk youth how to think critically about social issues, provided leadership skills development through media productions, and created effective media products such as Public Service Announcements, radio stories, graphic and web design images, and postcards that promote awareness of the social issues.

Kang has created numerous educational video tools for the University of Minnesota and other organizations such as SoLaHmo (Somali, Latino, & Hmong) and Powell Center for Women’s Health. He has also worked and been an active member of the Asian community through previous employment and volunteer work with nonprofit arts organizations such as Mu Performing Arts, The Center for Hmong Arts and Talent and, In Progress.

Kue Xiong | Artist-Instructor

Kue received his B.A in Studies in Cinema and Media Culture, and B.A. in Communication Studies at University of Minnesota, and M.B.A with an emphasis on Marketing at Globe University. Although his primary focus is film production, his field of interest expanded to radio production, video game development, music production, and broadcast. Within his career, he was involved with starting up RadioASIA (106.1 HD3), served as a board member for KFAI community radio, and arranged music scores for Hmong church groups. He currently resides in St. Paul, Minnesota.
