Civic engagement and community leadership are instrumental in shaping peoples’ wellbeing and everyday lives. By using arts and culture as a tool for civic engagement and leadership, the DIAL can attract new audiences to this essential work and implement arts-based strategies to positively impact the community.
The Creative Changemakers Apprenticeship builds civic engagement and community leadership skills for younger generations of diverse community members, which in turn will increase more favorable and equitable livability outcomes. The program includes:
change·ma·ker (noun) – A term meaning one who desires change in the world and, by gathering knowledge and resources, who makes change happen.
The Creative Changemakers Apprenticeship program is:
- a paid apprenticeship for artists who want to make social change
- where artists get training to leverage their talents to assist underserved and under-represented communities
- a way to expand a creative individual’s skills in a new professional capacity
